Giving Back

Rooted in Haiti

Philanthropy shaped by heritage: education, nourishment and opportunity for children — beginning in Haiti and reaching classrooms around the world.

Why Haiti

Heritage into action.

His parents emigrated from Haiti to the United States, and Altidore has framed his giving as a way of honoring the opportunity that journey created. He first travelled to Haiti at 16 with the New York Red Bulls, helping run camps and deliver donations including fresh water and school supplies.

After the devastating 2010 earthquake — when he was 19 — that support became personal and sustained. The Buffalo Bills' profile describes his work in Haiti as focused on education, healthcare and economic development through his foundation.

He has also spoken about showing the fuller picture of Haiti: its culture, beauty and potential, not only the hardship that dominates headlines.

Meals that keep children in school.

As a World Food Programme High-Level Supporter, Altidore launched ERASE HUNGER, a campaign aiming to fund one million school meals. School meals improve attendance — and the chance that children stay in school, graduate and build careers. In a 2026 interview he said the campaign had provided more than 300,000 meals to date.
